Discover the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek in Albuquerque NM

November 8th, 2022 by

Based on Subaru’s five-year product cycle for its high-volume products, this would’ve been the year for a new generation of Crosstrek. We suspect the ongoing supply chain issues contributed to that not happening. Instead, the company gave us the new Special Edition trim for the Crosstrek, which we love. Hopefully, we’ll see the new generation Crosstrek for the 2024 model year.

The Crosstrek Special Edition starts as a Premium trim but gets noticed with its exclusive paint color in Desert Khaki and 17-inch dark gray aluminum alloy wheels. Crystal Black Silica paint on the grille, antenna, door handles, and side mirrors rounds out the look, while the exterior badges finished with Low Luster Black complete the final touches.

Inside the Special Edition, you’ll find black and red upholstery with red contrast stitching throughout, including the cloth front and back seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, door armrests, shifter, dash panel, combination meter visor, and center console. The Low Luster Black finish also found its way onto the interior trim accents, tying it all together. All the amenities of the Crosstrek Premium are included inside the SE, along with an upgraded gauge cluster and Subaru’s STARLINK® 8-inch Multimedia Plus system as standard equipment.

Power and Performance

The traditional gasoline-powered Crosstrek has two engine options: the 2.0-liter 152-horsepower flat-four in the Base and Premium and the new updated 2.5-liter 182-hp in the Sport and Limited trims. The two lower trims get a 6-speed manual stick (Subaru knows some of us still love a manual!) or the optional CVT (continuously variable transmission), and the higher trims come standard with the CVT.

Fuel economy is good with an EPA rating of 28/33/30 mpg city/highway/combined for the Base and Premium with the CVT, while the higher trims drop slightly to 27/34/29 mpg.

However, if you want the most efficient 2023 Subaru Crosstrek in Albuquerque NM, choose the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model. It pairs a 137-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with two electric motors and gets an EPA rating of 35 mpg, 90 mpg-e, and 17 miles of pure electric range. This model also gets the CVT as standard.
